Lesson Learned in Life

If someone is really into you,
you won’t be left wondering
if you matter.

You won’t have to beg for a text,
wait for a call,
or question your worth in the silence.

Love doesn’t make you feel forgotten.
Care doesn’t come with excuses.

When you are a priority,
you are chosen
not once,
but again and again,
even in the smallest moments.

“Cinderella walked on broken glass, Sleeping beauty let her whole life pass by, Belle fell in love with a beast, Pocahontas risked her life for a feast, Jasmine could have had anyone but she chose a poor man, and Ariel, she walked on land.” So many people dislike fairytales because it makes us believe in love, believe that a prince will swoop down and save us when something goes wrong. But I’ve come to realize that in every fairytale-like movie, every girl took a risk. Took a risk for love, took a risk in the name of love. So, how do we know if our own fairytale won’t really happen if we don’t try, if we stop believing in love? I know it’s hard for some of you to put down their guard and to learn to trust someone else sometimes. I know because I’ve been through it. Does It Hurt?

People say love hurts. Does it? Loneliness hurts. Losing someone hurts. Being rejected hurts. Indifference hurts. But does love hurt? Does it hurt when you have this one person… and no matter for how long you haven’t seen each other and for how long you haven’t talked, you do come back to them every time and fall for them all over again and you love them, whether its wrong or right. You just do… Does love hurt? When you had a tough day and come back home and have this someone to hold you. Just to hold you, not giving a hug, you know. But hold you tight and take all your worries away. Does love hurt? When you know you are not alone and can rely on someone? Can believe? Can trust? People say love hurts, but maybe that’s the only thing in the world that actually does not.
