Does It Hurt?

People say love hurts.
Does it?
Loneliness hurts.
Losing someone hurts.
Being rejected hurts.
Indifference hurts.

But does love hurt?
Does it hurt when you have this one person… and no matter for how long you haven’t seen each other and for how long you haven’t talked, you do come back to them every time and fall for them all over again and you love them, whether its wrong or right. You just do…

Does love hurt?
When you had a tough day and come back home and have this someone to hold you. Just to hold you, not giving a hug, you know. But hold you tight and take all your worries away.

Does love hurt?
When you know you are not alone and can rely on someone? Can believe? Can trust?

People say love hurts, but maybe that’s the only thing in the world that actually does not.

  1. It hurts when u see the person u love walking away....
It hurts when u miss that special someone....
It hurts when u realise u cant have the good times u shared....
It hurts when u are convinced u can never love anyone as much anymore...

And the real reason behind all these is that u have loved someone soo much that u just cannot see beyond them anymore...

Had there been no 'love' in the first place, there wouldn't have been any eventual 'hurt'...

So love does equal to hurt in a way....
lucky are those who know no hurt in love but then they are the ones who haven't loved enough :)

Love doesnt hurt Z, the way it makes you feel inside - making you vulnerable, at someone's mercy, like his every breath counts, his every word has the power to make or break you...like you know there is someone who knows you right from your blood vessels to the tip of your hair...and when that ceases to happen, then is where it hurts....

    Nice post !

as for loneliness, losing someone, rejection, indifference....yeah it does hurt...

being in love is the best feeling... and

"you have this one person… and no matter for how long you haven’t seen each other and for how long you haven’t talked, you do come back to them every time and fall for them all over again and you love them, whether its wrong or right. You just do…"

i feel love should never hurt.. but then thats not the case is it?? just that we end up expectin so much from the person we love.. all that trust.. understanding.. being there for us all the time.. which sometimes is not possible..

even though when u have a person and still lonely that hurts.. means that then haven't connected enough to know each other..

    lovely post as always :)

What you've written is true, no doubt... but that's just one side of the story...

it hurts when you've gotta let that love go for reasons not in your control.

It hurts when the one you love and obviously trust, breaks your trust.

It sure does hurt when you *have* to leave that beloved and you gotta forget him for ur own sake and find out you just can't do it, cz they're there, in everything you do, in every smile, in every thing that's connected to you.

Now enough of me being melodramatic hehe :D

Nice post LadyB! As always with your special **sweet** touch! :)

I agree with Mehreen but am adding a situation where you do not leave forever, only temporarily. (Read about trauma victims, too...) (Read on.)Yes, love can hurt beyond anything imaginable when the circumstances render you powerless, betrayed, speechless, worried, and in fear for your loved one's life.

For example, your loved one needs serious professional help, whether that be a job, counseling, or other medical services but is in such denial that his/her behavior wounds and alienates all who love him/her.Whenever you think of that person, the love wells up inside of you no matter how angry, sad, hurt you are. That love always envelopes you and oh, it hurts, that the person is forever connected to you, but is in such duress. It's not circumstances hurting. It's love; it's remembering holding him/her close to you, reassuring, consoling, conversing,...everything and then poof: your life is beset with lies by this person who once loved you and now doesn't know what love is. Yet your love stays because it's the type of love bond that is not broken by circumstance.

Lies and denial abound but you still love this person who is bound to you either by commitment of marriage, friendship, or blood relation. (Spouse, friend, offspring, relative.) Feeling and being powerless to help the person because it is his/her choice magnifies the aching love that sees that person destroy him or herself along with others you love. *Cries

  18. I've never been there though, but that's what I remember Naz sing - Love Hurts!! :P

  20. it's not love that hurts. but being in love may lead to hurt.. when u're in love, u're rather vulnerable..
the expectations... people.. comments.. perceptions... a lot of things that can hurt u tremendously when u're that vulnerable.
but heyy... it's all worth it if u find someone who wouldn't hurt u ever and protect you from being hurt as well

    If I may.

That was some GREAT thought on the most used and abused word LOVE. I guess, love has no place for hurt. Expectations do. Very often, we do mix these two.

    Result: We all know.

It was pleasure reading the post.

  30. @ Mehreen:

to often we confuse other feelings with love and think it hurts..

whatever one feels is love and it does not hurt, but indifference of the one that doesnt care, ignorance, selfishness - these are things that hurt.

love does not... circumstances do, people do, but not love.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ ani:

yes, i know what you mean, it wont go anywhere, we will expect always, thats human nature... and sometimes circumstances are stronger than we can handle.. but then in the end it is not love that hurts, but things surrounding it.

when you expect something from someone it is one thing, it is not the feeling of love but rather the feeling of being accepted, being cared for, being loved, of course they all are connected.. but love is above them all.. its one thing that does not hurt.

**it takes more than just love to hurt

i guess you are right, love alone cannot hurt, just in combination with our expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @ pri:
    i would disagree here:
it is not love that hurts, but the feeling of being rejected, the feeling of being not cared about. Of course if there was no love we wouldnt have those feelings either, but directly, love does not hurt.
    Expectations do.
    People do.
    Circumstances do.

    Love does not!
