Does It Hurt?
People say love hurts.
Does it?
Loneliness hurts.
Losing someone hurts.
Being rejected hurts.
Indifference hurts.
But does love hurt?
Does it hurt when you have this one person… and no matter for how long you haven’t seen each other and for how long you haven’t talked, you do come back to them every time and fall for them all over again and you love them, whether its wrong or right. You just do…
Does love hurt?
When you had a tough day and come back home and have this someone to hold you. Just to hold you, not giving a hug, you know. But hold you tight and take all your worries away.
Does love hurt?
When you know you are not alone and can rely on someone? Can believe? Can trust?
People say love hurts, but maybe that’s the only thing in the world that actually does not.

It hurts when u see the person u love walking away....
ReplyDeleteIt hurts when u miss that special someone....
It hurts when u realise u cant have the good times u shared....
It hurts when u are convinced u can never love anyone as much anymore...
And the real reason behind all these is that u have loved someone soo much that u just cannot see beyond them anymore...
Had there been no 'love' in the first place, there wouldn't have been any eventual 'hurt'...
So love does equal to hurt in a way....
lucky are those who know no hurt in love but then they are the ones who haven't loved enough :)
Love doesnt hurt Z, the way it makes you feel inside - making you vulnerable, at someone's mercy, like his every breath counts, his every word has the power to make or break you...like you know there is someone who knows you right from your blood vessels to the tip of your hair...and when that ceases to happen, then is where it hurts....
ReplyDeleteNice post !
it hurts when the one u love does not do what you expect them to do. Love with no expectations does not hurt
ReplyDeletelove not hurts ladyb.
ReplyDeletebeing in love does sometimes, but not love itself!!:)
as for loneliness, losing someone, rejection, indifference....yeah it does hurt...
being in love is the best feeling... and
"you have this one person… and no matter for how long you haven’t seen each other and for how long you haven’t talked, you do come back to them every time and fall for them all over again and you love them, whether its wrong or right. You just do…"
love not hurts...!! only expectation from it hurt.
Vinay.
nicely written...The situations which you have portrayed are very touching.....
ReplyDeletelove doesnt hurt...not at all...
ReplyDeleteits d expectations from love which hurt
Love hurts when you can't make the world beautiful for her.
ReplyDeleteBut the situations which u depicted , love will not hurt, but would bring calmness and peace to the inner self.
it definitely hurts..at somepoint or the other..it definitely hurts..
ReplyDeleteUr right B...Love doesnt hurt..people do.
ReplyDelete:)
*HUGZ*
hmmm... thats an interesting line of thought... but you are right, love does not directly hurt :)
ReplyDeletewell written...
cheers mate...
LadyB..
ReplyDeletei feel love should never hurt.. but then thats not the case is it?? just that we end up expectin so much from the person we love.. all that trust.. understanding.. being there for us all the time.. which sometimes is not possible..
even though when u have a person and still lonely that hurts.. means that then haven't connected enough to know each other..
lovely post as always :)
People say love hurts, but maybe that’s the only thing in the world that actually does not.
ReplyDeleteRight!

Arti
What you've written is true, no doubt... but that's just one side of the story...
ReplyDeleteit hurts when you've gotta let that love go for reasons not in your control.
It hurts when the one you love and obviously trust, breaks your trust.
It sure does hurt when you *have* to leave that beloved and you gotta forget him for ur own sake and find out you just can't do it, cz they're there, in everything you do, in every smile, in every thing that's connected to you.
Now enough of me being melodramatic hehe :D
Nice post LadyB! As always with your special **sweet** touch! :)
Mehreen.
heee :)
ReplyDeletelove doesn't hurt..
love n jealousy together hurt..
love n expectations together hurt..
love n lies together hurt..
love n betrayal togteher hurt..
love n distrust togtether hurt..
it takes two to tango..
it takes more than just love to hurt :)
love hurts when the one u love doesn't love u back.
ReplyDeleteif u keep urself busy..u will not be lonely..then it can't hurt you.
i think will power can take u through each and every path of thorns u can ever face.
tc
love never hurts...expectations do...
ReplyDelete:)
I agree with Mehreen but am adding a situation where you do not leave forever, only temporarily. (Read about trauma victims, too...) (Read on.)Yes, love can hurt beyond anything imaginable when the circumstances render you powerless, betrayed, speechless, worried, and in fear for your loved one's life.
ReplyDeleteFor example, your loved one needs serious professional help, whether that be a job, counseling, or other medical services but is in such denial that his/her behavior wounds and alienates all who love him/her.Whenever you think of that person, the love wells up inside of you no matter how angry, sad, hurt you are. That love always envelopes you and oh, it hurts, that the person is forever connected to you, but is in such duress. It's not circumstances hurting. It's love; it's remembering holding him/her close to you, reassuring, consoling, conversing,...everything and then poof: your life is beset with lies by this person who once loved you and now doesn't know what love is. Yet your love stays because it's the type of love bond that is not broken by circumstance.
Lies and denial abound but you still love this person who is bound to you either by commitment of marriage, friendship, or blood relation. (Spouse, friend, offspring, relative.) Feeling and being powerless to help the person because it is his/her choice magnifies the aching love that sees that person destroy him or herself along with others you love. *Cries
I've never been there though, but that's what I remember Naz sing - Love Hurts!! :P
ReplyDeleteAnd from what I read, of what you wrote, given those conditions, it would take some other species than the homo-sapiens for love 'not-to-hurt'!!
Love... Is tantalizing (to me!). So... Yeah, it'll hurt. Disappoints do have a touch of hurt in them...
ReplyDeleteit's not love that hurts. but being in love may lead to hurt.. when u're in love, u're rather vulnerable..
ReplyDeletethe expectations... people.. comments.. perceptions... a lot of things that can hurt u tremendously when u're that vulnerable.
but heyy... it's all worth it if u find someone who wouldn't hurt u ever and protect you from being hurt as well
well people say that love hurts when you dont have all these things that love gives us.
ReplyDeletelove hurts when the person you love is right there but you know u can't have them.. have to let them go.. it hurts n hurts bad..
ReplyDeleteit hurts still we love to love all times :)
Remember you once wrote.. "Love is like a butterfly...it lives for a short while and dies." How sweet! Do butterflies hurt? This is the way I think of it...
ReplyDeleteI'll be back
If I may.
ReplyDeleteThat was some GREAT thought on the most used and abused word LOVE. I guess, love has no place for hurt. Expectations do. Very often, we do mix these two.
Result: We all know.
It was pleasure reading the post.
*cheers*
That was nice. A refreshing change. :)
ReplyDeleteit hurts when the person you so want is so close to you but yet so far to reach out for. or rather when u reach out for and he isnt there to hold ur hand...
ReplyDeleteIf love realy hurts why do they think of that person more and more even if their relationship breaks or away from each other.
ReplyDeleteGood things in life never come easy, and love is one such thing. If it hurts,it's in order to strengthen the bond. And if it's for the purpose of hurting alone, then that can never be love
ReplyDeletelove hurts those who r used to separation n all..its individuals view...... i second mehreen's view...quite true though......and nice post feels good
ReplyDelete* hugs *
@ Mehreen:
ReplyDeleteto often we confuse other feelings with love and think it hurts..
whatever one feels is love and it does not hurt, but indifference of the one that doesnt care, ignorance, selfishness - these are things that hurt.
love does not... circumstances do, people do, but not love.
@ ani:
ReplyDeleteyes, i know what you mean, it wont go anywhere, we will expect always, thats human nature... and sometimes circumstances are stronger than we can handle.. but then in the end it is not love that hurts, but things surrounding it.
@ Arti:
ReplyDeleteam glad you agreed :)
God bless you too :)
@ Arv:
ReplyDeletedirectly or not, it does not.. its people who do.
@ keshi:
ReplyDeleteyup, dear, absolutely right! :)
@ trinaa:
ReplyDeletei believe you confused love for feelings and emotions that surround it.
@ mayz:
ReplyDeleteyup, thats what i meant.. glaв you agree :)
@ too much to lose:
ReplyDeletethank you :)
@ Vinay:
ReplyDeleteyou got the message absolutely right!
Expectations hurt, and they depend on us and not on love... so in the end it is all about people
@ Cindy:
ReplyDeleteyou said it all. can hardly add anything. But really feels painful even to read this.
@ V:
ReplyDeletewhen you expect something from someone it is one thing, it is not the feeling of love but rather the feeling of being accepted, being cared for, being loved, of course they all are connected.. but love is above them all.. its one thing that does not hurt.
@ jane:
ReplyDelete**it takes more than just love to hurt
i guess you are right, love alone cannot hurt, just in combination with our expectations.
@ pri:
ReplyDeletei would disagree here:
it is not love that hurts, but the feeling of being rejected, the feeling of being not cared about. Of course if there was no love we wouldnt have those feelings either, but directly, love does not hurt.
Expectations do.
People do.
Circumstances do.
Love does not!
@ humbl devil:
ReplyDeleteagreed :)
@ Rayray:
ReplyDeleteexactly, absolutely!
that is what i meant to say with this post!
@ hope:
ReplyDeletei know it hurts to let them go when circumstances dont allow them to stay. But even then you can be happy for at least having had them in your life.
@ talking to my soul:
ReplyDeleteof course you may!! thank you :)
am glad you liked this post.. and we really do mix love and expectations, hence so much confusion :)
welcome to my blog!
