Risk
“Cinderella walked on broken glass, Sleeping beauty let her whole life pass by, Belle fell in love with a beast, Pocahontas risked her life for a feast, Jasmine could have had anyone but she chose a poor man, and Ariel, she walked on land.”
So many people dislike fairytales because it makes us believe in love, believe that a prince will swoop down and save us when something goes wrong. But I’ve come to realize that in every fairytale-like movie, every girl took a risk. Took a risk for love, took a risk in the name of love.
So, how do we know if our own fairytale won’t really happen if we don’t try, if we stop believing in love?
I know it’s hard for some of you to put down their guard and to learn to trust someone else sometimes. I know because I’ve been through it. People like us, we distance ourselves from people we genuinely like just because we are afraid to get hurt. But does building up these walls ultimately saves us from hurting?
It doesn’t.
We’ve got to know that these people, the people we are blocking out because of our own insecurities, will leave someday too. Leave for something better. Everyone will cause you pain and hurt and tears, but you have to decide who’s worth it. And when you make that decision, happiness will come to you. =)

I love this.
ReplyDeleteI commend you. Simple and sensible. Keep on living the good life. I hope you continue to take a risk...it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteFinally, a little hope.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet!
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe in taking risks for love and happiness too ♥
I took a very big risk for love three years ago. And it definitely paid off.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly how I feel at this moment. Earlier tonight I took a risk and put myself on the line and I'm do happy I did.
ReplyDeleteWhat you wrote here is perfect
This is so perfect and so true. If you don't take these risks you will always, always end up wishing you had. Our biggest regrets are not things we did but things we didnt do.
ReplyDeleteBe brave. Take a risk in the name of love
This is amazing, and it's so true! Amazingly written.
ReplyDeletewow. you're really right.
ReplyDeletebelle was my favorite character, because she's so strong.
agree, you have to take a leap of faith, take that risk,do something you've never done before. Pls have a look at my blog www.
ReplyDelete- Dream, love be ;-) Good luck!
Thank for these amazing thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThat makes us more risky in love!
Finding the right one, means to take a risk? how knows? maybe yes!
This is amazing. I've always loved fairytales, not for the happy ending, but the great love story it tells of sacrifice and risks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for penning down the words (: and telling everyone to take that leap.
Because sometimes, it only takes one small leap of faith.
I am from India and this blog is simply amazing. I just wanted to let you know that people all over the world love you and that everywhere love is just the same.
ReplyDeleteTaking risks does get you the best kind of love. I know i have tried!
<3
very inspirational :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that love means taking risks and throwing caution to the wind.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't agree with is that everyone will leave you and cause you pain and hurt and tears. That just isn't so.
Fairytales do come true. I know because I have experienced it. And I know my Prince Charming will never leave me or cause me any pain.
If you believe that the only possible outcome of a situation is a negative one, you will never allow yourself to have a happy ending.
And don't we all want to be strong princesses? Part of the beauty in a woman lies in her strength; her strength lies in her love for her lover
ReplyDeletethanks for posting this! this is greay!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said <3
ReplyDeletei am the one that wrote 'my open ended boy', and i've decided now...partly from reading this and trusting myself (and learning to trust him) that i am ready to take the risk, i am going to to do-jump in with my eyes open and aware. Thanks for this, it was really great and exactly what i needed.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Thanks you
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a completely new perspective on the Disney films for me. I was one of the cynics who hated Disney for selling lies, but I do think you're right. I really appreciate words and encouragement, and hopefully one day all of us out there too afraid to let our guards will learn that receive any love we need to be open too it.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is perfect...Disney really is one of the most incredible businesses/innovators.
ReplyDeleteawww thank you so much. love love love to you
ReplyDeleteThis gave me hope, yet I'm still afraid to ask him out. I want to ask him out to watch this year's fireworks with me, but I'm afraid to be rejected and make things even more awkward between us. I'm even more afraid to create more burden for him by asking him to make a decision - yea or no. All the risks the disney princesses took paid off and they got their happily ever after eventually, yet this is not true in reality. There's so many possibilities of things going wrong, and what ifs..
ReplyDeleteLove the quote in the beginning.
ReplyDeletewow this is truly inspiring. Great thinking on that note :)
ReplyDeletewow, thank you.. it helps:)
ReplyDeleteI love your entries!
ReplyDeletethis is soo nice article...!
ReplyDeletevery very nice to read it!
thanks for this nice sharing..!
you really have an amazing way with words, i was one of the very many non believers in love but it was only because i've been hurt so many times so i put up a wall of "protection" for myself so i wouldn't get hurt. your words are really inspiring, please keep writing words like this because something as simple as a few paragraphs like this can really change someone's perspective
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!
ReplyDeleteGood fairytales are not "sweet". They´re beautiful and breathtaking and hopegiving...
Thanx again. //anna
I'm just... WOW! - this is so beautiful. The way you write is amazing - and truthful.
ReplyDeleteThank You! <3 :)
Oh wow, i wrote something that was almost a polar-opposite entry to this a while ago! I like this, thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI simply LOVE this post! So much I'm gonna put the link on my blog.
