Wedding vs. Marriage

Every married couple has heard the quote 'For the Better or Worse'. It is enthusiastically avowed the day we say "I Do". But as life would have it, we are faced with situations and circumstance where those words are forgotten and flushed.

We keep saying nothing is perfect. Obviously no relationship is perfect, you gotta work to make it perfect, because perfection is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their fair share of disappointments, differences and arguments. But for some reason when we are on the other side of the fence, where the grass isn't so green - we are quick to let our vows disappear and we handle things the way we promised we wouldn't, why would you do that with something you once had the utmost desire and dedication for? Did you confuse yourself with a wedding and not a marriage? How stupid!

It is human nature, I agree, to let the things we can't seem to work out go away. But for obvious human reasons you cannot expect to get along all the time with your better half. You will have a share of ups and downs but when you walk away, you are forgetting that life doesn't work that way. You just cant run from everything in life. Problems don't go away by running away from them.... face it! tackle it!

The wise say that couples have to put in 50 - 50. But I disagree. It will not work unless we give our all individually for the togetherness. Give your 100% each. Marriage means you're willing to do whatever it takes to make it work. The wedding is temporary, the marriage is permanent.

No relationship can work with only one partner trying. That is like having a dead horse pulling a carriage, is that possible? practical? workable?

I am no expert, but I have had my share of highs and lows to know that the better for a marriage happens when two people are committed enough to take it all through the storms and the tempests.
